bluebarry uses your Shopify product catalog to power quiz recommendations. This guide explains how the product sync works and how to configure it so your quiz always shows up-to-date products, prices, and availability.
Prerequisites
Before syncing product data, make sure you have:
- Installed the bluebarry Shopify app.
- A bluebarry account with at least one quiz funnel created or in progress.
How the Sync Works
When you connect bluebarry to your Shopify store, the app creates a live product feed from your catalog. This feed automatically includes:
- Product titles, descriptions, and images
- Prices and compare-at prices (for discount display)
- Variants — sizes, colors, materials, and other options
- Tags, collections, and meta-fields
- Sales popularity data
- Inventory status — out-of-stock products can be automatically hidden
The sync runs continuously in the background. Product updates in Shopify (price changes, new products, inventory) are reflected in bluebarry within minutes.
Configure Sync Settings
To adjust what data is synced and how it is mapped to bluebarry attributes:
- Open the bluebarry app in your Shopify admin
- Navigate to Settings → Product Sync
- Configure which product fields and variant options to include
- Map Shopify tags or metafields to bluebarry attributes if needed
- Click Save & Sync to apply your settings and trigger a full re-sync

Verify Your Product Data
After syncing, verify the data in bluebarry:
- Log in to your bluebarry account
- Go to Products in the left navigation
- Check that your Shopify products appear with correct titles, images, and attributes
- If products are missing, trigger a manual sync from the Shopify app settings
💡 Pro tip
Use Shopify tags to categorize products (e.g., gender:women, material:leather). Bluebarry can use these tags directly as filter attributes in your quiz, saving you from manually mapping every attribute.
Connect Meta Fields to Your Quiz Answers
Once your products are synced, you can connect Shopify meta fields directly to your quiz answers. bluebarry lets you map meta field values to quiz question options — either manually or with AI-assisted matching. This means your quiz can filter and recommend products based on any custom data you store in Shopify, like skin type, difficulty level, or intended use. The AI matcher can automatically suggest connections between your meta field values and quiz answers, saving you time when working with large catalogs.
Next Steps
Once your product data is synced and attributes are mapped, you're ready to launch your quiz on your store:
- Launch your quiz with a button — Add a button or nav link that opens your quiz anywhere on your store.
- Launch your quiz with a popup — Automatically show a quiz popup after visitors spend time on your store.
