Using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) as your main analytics platform? Here’s how to get your bluebarry quiz funnel data flowing into GA4 so you can actually see what’s working.
The bluebarry Dashboard shows you how to optimize your quiz funnels, but it’s missing some key insights. You can’t easily see performance by traffic source, device, or country within bluebarry. Send your funnel data to GA4 and unlock way deeper insights.
This guide walks you through connecting bluebarry to GA4 using Google Tag Manager (GTM). No headaches, just results.
Step 1: Get Your Integration File from bluebarry
Â
- Go to bluebarry Dashboard → Integrations
- Select Google Tag Manager
- Click Download Configuration
You’ll need your GA4 Measurement ID first.
Step 2: Grab Your GA4 Measurement ID
- In Google Analytics, go to Admin → Data Streams
- Select your GA4 data stream
- Copy the Measurement ID (looks like
G-XXXXXXXXXX
) - Paste it into bluebarry
- Download the JSON configuration file
This file is pre-configured so you don’t have to manually create events in GTM. We did the work for you.
Step 3: Import Into Google Tag Manager
- Go to Google Tag Manager
- Navigate to Admin → Container → Import Container
- Upload the JSON file from bluebarry
- Choose your workspace
Critical: Never override your container. Select Merge instead of Overwrite or you’ll nuke your existing GTM setup. If prompted, select Overwrite conflicting tags, triggers, and variables.
Step 4: Review What Got Added
After importing, bluebarry added:
- Data Layer Variables – capture quiz interactions
- Triggers – define when events fire
- GA4 Event Tags – send quiz data to GA4
Event parameters include:
- Advisor ID
- Question ID
- Question Name
- Answer Value
- Results Viewed
Step 5: Test It Works
- In GTM, click Preview
- Take your quiz funnel
- In Tag Assistant, check for firing events:
question_viewed
answer_submitted
results_viewed
Â
You should see values passing correctly to GA4.
Step 6: Use Clean Internal Names
When creating questions and answers in bluebarry, use internal names that are short and clean. These get sent to GA4.
Example: Instead of “Would you prefer a small, medium, or large cup?” → use small_cup
, medium_cup
, large_cup
Keeps your GA4 data organized and easy to analyze.
Step 7: Go Live
Once everything works in Preview Mode:
- Click Submit in GTM
- Publish your container
Your bluebarry quiz data now flows into GA4 automatically.
